Izvleček: | Child abuse is a global issue that includes various forms of abuse, neglect and maltreatment by parents or caregivers. Such experiences have a profound impact on children's mental health, often leading to long-term psychological consequences. This research project is focused on reviewing scientific evidence related to the effects of child violence on mental health, exploring the factors that impact mental health, identifying the mental health consequences of child violence, and creating an informational guide to prevent such violence. This study adopted a qualitative approach, including a cross-sectional design, descriptive scope and non-experimental nature, with bibliographic synthesis as the research method. A total of thirteen scientific articles are analyzed using the PRISMA method from databases such as Dialnet, Scielo, ProQuest, Google Scholar and Eumed. The analysis included a sample of 4,120,701 participants. Based on the results obtained, biological, psychosocial, and sociodemographic protective and risk factors are described. In addition, various short-term effects are identified, including psychological and behavioral issues, academic difficulties, hyperactivity, attention and concentration deficits, depressive and anxious symptoms, and neuroendocrine alterations. In the long term, the effects include Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, substance use, affective disorders, somatization, suicidal ideation and behavior, as well as impairments in associative learning, episodic memory, intellectual capacity, problemsolving, and planning. Based on these findings, an informational guide is developed for professionals, society, and, most importantly, parents and caregivers, describing strategies for preventing violence through education on child abuse. Furthermore, the guide emphasizes parenting styles that can help reduce the impact of violence on children |
