| Sammanfattning: | According to the World Health Organization (WHO) defines overweight and obesity as a chronic disease characterized by excess fat in the body and occurs when the body mass index (BMI) in adults is greater than 30 kg / m². Instead a child is considered obese when their weight exceeds 20% of their ideal weight. The following study is aimed to determine the relationship between the consumption of fast food with childhood overweight and obesity in primary school “spanish words” “Punto de Partida” from the city of Loja period January to June 2014, for which correlational and cross-sectional descriptive study was applied in order to measure appliance of a previously prepared survey tables BMI Z-score for children 5-9 years old and 10-19 years of age. The study population was 133 students, of which 31.58% were overweight, 14.29% and 0.75% mild obesity severe obesity. A 46.62% of overweight and obese children have a 27.82% these kids are among the range of 10 to 12 years of age and 18.80% within the range of 7-9 years. The study found that the type of fast food that is consumed more is processed foods which they are often high in fat and salt with a 96.24% of the total, followed in the same way by a 92.48% of the total in terms of consumption for unprocessed food and finally an 86.47% of the total consumption of processed foods are high on sugar. This research process allows us to determine that eating fast food is an important and strong relationship with overweight and obesity. Keywords: fast food, overweight, obesity, BMI charts. |
