| Gaia: | One of the most pervasive reproductive diseases in worldwide is enzootic abortion. It mostly affects tiny ruminants and has been brought on by a bacteria called Chlamydia abortus, as a consequence, it frequently causes abortions in the third trimester of pregnancy as well as the birth of premature and frail offspring most of which die within a few days after birth It is important to conduct research on the incidence of this disease in Ecuador because of its possible zoonotic implications for public health. The objectives of this research were to identify the presence of antibodies against Chlamydia abortus in serum samples from goats in Zapotillo canton of Loja province and to determine associated factors. To achieve this, blood samples were collected from 96 goats on 19 farms in the Limones parish, and epidemiological information was gathered through surveys of the owners. The samples were analyzed using an indirect ELISA with synthetic antigen of the outer membrane protein MOMP. The presence of antibodies against Chlamydia abortus was found to be 3.26% (3/96), and factors such as age, gender, origin, and the occurrence of abortions within the flocks were not associated with the presence of antibodies. |
