| Summary: | The research entitled “Gabarró Methodology: An Effective strategy for developing spelling skills in sixth grade students of General Basic Education” has the overall objective of determining the impact of the Gabarró methodology on spelling instruction in the sixth grade of General Basic Education. It is a descriptive research with a mixed approach and a quasi-experimental design. During the process, scientific, descriptive, analytical, synthetic, and statistical methods were applied. The techniques and instruments used included an interview with the teacher and an assessment of spelling skills for the students. These methods significantly contributed to data collection. The study population was twenty-nine students anda teacher from “José Ingenieros” Basic Education School. The initial results indicate that a high percentage of the investigated students are close to achieving the required learning outcomes, they have an insecure level of spelling proficiency. The implementation of the “Let´s Learn to Write Correctly” proposal allowed them to overcome this level. Therefore, it is important to mention that the research findings indicate that the Gabarró methodology constitutes an effective approach to improving spelling learning outcomes. By using images to represent concepts or words, the methodology increases motivation and makes it easier for students to understand and remember them by relating them to one another. |
