Özet:The present research work was developed with the purpose of analyzing the family as training institution of values, in order to determine how it impacts on academic performance in children of first and second years of Basic General Education of Gonzalo Abad Grijalva Fiscal School, of Vilcabamba Parish, 2013-2014. To develop this research some methods were used, such as the scientific, inductive, deductive and statistical, analytical and synthetic that allowed to analyze and interpret the results. Moreover was used as instrument surveys applied to teachers, parents and Mrs. Director who demonstrated excellent collaboration. The results showed that the family directly affects the academic performance of children. As a main conclusion it deducted that the academic performance of children depends on the formation of values at home and the methodological strategies used by teachers in the classroom.
