Résumé:The purpose of the following research is to identify the main causative agents of the onychomycosis, in order to be aware of the main causal risk factors that produce the onychomycosis; and also to establish a relationship between the causal agents and the risk factors of the habitants in the Canton “Spanish words” “Chaguarpamba”, the following investigation is a cross-sectional study with samples of 73 patients which they are outpatient attendants at the Chaguarpamba Sub center Health; the same that met inclusion criteria, being the Trichophyton Rubrum the most common causative agent with a 35,62%, Trichophyton Mentagrophytes with a 23,29%, Trichophyton tonsures with a 17,81%, followed by Microsporum canis with a 15,07% and the Trichophyton concentrium with a 4,11%, among the most frequent ones, we managed to obtain these results through a direct survey we could established that the risk factor with a greater predisposition was the tap water that is used for personal hygiene with an 100%, the contact with the ground on a 46,58%, the recurrence of a foot fungus with a 43,84% and the use of closed shoes on a 39,73%; there is an existing a relationship between the main causal agent of onychomycosis the Trichophyton Rubrum with an 100% with the tap water that is used for their personal hygiene, since the majority of these microorganisms with water are tubed and other factors which provides a suitable way to continue living.
