| Özet: | "Diabetes mellitus type 2, identified today as one of the chronic diseases common noncommunicable globally", its prevalence has been increasing in recent years, currently there are changes in the age of onset of this disease, "as it was a condition of adulthood itself however is still prevalent, but this has increased significantly in adolescents around the world, this form of diabetes is associated with excess weight, apparent cause is the relentless growth of childhood obesity”. This research work is descriptive, through which identified risk factors that might be associated with the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus, which was applied to surveys aimed at adolescents in study group, which included the same questions designed to identify the risk factors to which they are exposed / teenagers, and their knowledge about the disease. The study group consisted of 591 adolescents of the basic cycle, which was obtained a sample of 168 students of 8th grade, prior to data collection, informed consent was requested, so that the youth representatives authorize the participation in the research thereof. From the data obtained it was evident that the adolescents studied are among the 10-12 year olds with 63.69%, with predominance of males 67.86%, and the 60.12% of these young people have some knowledge about Diabetes Mellitus Type 2. Within the non-modifiable risk factors is evidenced that the 24.40% of the / as adolescents with a family history of diabetes, likewise 100% are of mixed race. In relation to modifiable risk factors predominantly sedentary lifestyle and 57.14%, accompanied by an inadequate supply represented by 39.88% due to consuming junk food. In relation to BMI there is a 5.96% of overweight and obesity, which is considered a health problem, as well as a possible potential risk for developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in adulthood |
