description The study was carried out in two Andean ecosystems located in the cantons of Loja and Saraguro belonging to the province of Loja, to generate primary information on the Biological Rotation Age (BRA) of Juglans neotropica (nogal) and thus contribute to the sustainable forest management of these ecosystems. In this dendrochronological analysis, a total of 38 trees with a minimum DAP of 20 cm were used, and a minimum of two samples was taken per individual for which the Pressler increment borer was used. In the dendrochronology laboratory of the Universidad Nacional de Loja, the samples obtained in the field were processed, for which the samples were sanded and polished with grain number 150 sandpaper until number 4000, then the growth rings of each sample in the sample were measured. Lintab equipment and with the TsapWin dendrochronological software. The data analysis was performed with the free software of computation and statistical graphs R, within which a specialized package for dendrochronology called "dplR" was used, in the trees of Loja the sample size was obtained by means of the signal statistics expressed population (EPS) whose value was 0.86; These trees grow inside a plantation located in the Parque Universitario de Eduación Ambiental y Recreación (PUEAR). In the case of Saraguro it was not possible to obtain EPS because the trees do not grow in a population or stand with more than 10 individuals, since they are all relict and grow distant from each other. To obtain the BRA of the species, two growth curves were needed, the Current Annual Increment (CAI) and the Mean Annual Increment (MAI), and the data necessary to generate them were obtained in program R. The information obtained from the growth rings of Juglans neotropica shows significant differences between the two sites, the dendrochronological series reach 65 years in the PUEAR and 63 years in Saraguro. The trees of Saraguro have an average diameter growth of 8.34 mm / year and had a higher growth during their first years compared to the trees that grew in the PUEAR, which have an average diameter growth of 6.48 mm / year. The sensitivity index of tree rings in the two sites was 0.38 and the autocorrelation index was 0.53 in the PUEAR and 0.61 in Saraguro. The species reaches its BRA in the case of the PUEAR at 73 years and in Saraguro at 34 years, on the basis of which a new DMC was evaluated for the species which was 40 cm in the PUEAR and 23 cm in Saraguro, which on average gives a value of 32 cm and differs with 18 cm of the established in the regulations for the sustainable management of the Andean forests whose value is 50 cm. The difference in the growth of the species in the two sites, shows that its development depends directly on the site conditions in which it develops, therefore, these conditions influence the BRA of the species, which can be reduced if the trees receive good forest management. Key words: Forest management, Biological Rotation Age, Mean Annual Increment, Current Annual Increment, Minimum Cutting Diameter.

Key words: Forest management, Biological Rotation Age, Mean Annual Increment, Current Annual Increment, Minimum Cutting Diameter.
