Zusammenfassung:This descriptive study investigated the use of role plays in the improvement of the speaking skills with students of sixth year at Luis Humberto Benitez Costa public school. A ten –session intervention plan was implemented to improve the skill. The researcher- designed a test and questionnaire that were used to measure the ten students’ progress and perception of role plays use. An observation guide was also used after every session to confirm the students’ progress. The results indicated that the use of role plays facilitated meaningfully the improvement of speaking skill which was reflected in the noticeable increase of the posttest scores and students’ progress during the intervention. Answers from the questionnaire also confirmed the enthusiasm and positive attitude toward working with speaking. To conclude this study helped the students to improve their speaking skills, the researcher to sharpen her teachings skills and the community to have a well-prepared teacher.
