This research focuses on the use that young people give to social networks and their influence on low academic performance, as adolescents spend extensive hours using it, using it as a means of communication, interaction and fun, neglecting important aspects in their education. Thus, through research it was determined that social networks have a negative influence on academic performance, which is the general objective approach. After this elaborate a proposal of intervention which was designed with the help of students, teachers, parents and mothers of families, who gave alternative solutions to help the problem, oriented to the awareness of the students for an adequate use of this technological medium. The methodology used in the research was the scientific, inductive, deductive, statistical and analytical method, allowing to determine the problem under study, identifying the influence that social networks have on low academic performance, and after that order the results obtained, which could be collected by applying the technique of the survey, observation and then issue conclusions and recommendations. Among the results obtained from this research with the application of the technique of observation and survey, aimed at students, teachers, parents and mothers of families is that young people do not give adequate use to social networks since They use it as an interactive means of distraction, and not as an academic tool that allows them to investigate, expand their knowledge. This is due to the fact that they pay more attention to a social network leaving aside their academic responsibilities, missing the advantages that it has since through this one they can also make consultations, group work and even solve any doubt regarding a 5 subject of study. ; they are aware of the risks caused by the use of social networks, but they do not give it the importance it has and continue to use it in a continuous and uncontrolled manner, as well as the ease with which they have access to the internet networks that currently exist, Another reason is that there is no control on the part of the parents due to the lack of confidence and communication, in addition to the lack of knowledge of the technological means and the limited time since they spend the majority of hours in their work, preventing them from having control of the time their children spend in the use of social networks. At the time of reviewing the grade books it was found that the overall average in the year 2015-2016 at the level of the entire establishment is 9.16 while the overall average of the year 2018-2019 at the level of the entire establishment is 7.43. show that social networks have a great influence on the low academic performance of students, free internet networks were implemented since approximately two years in which students have aroused great interest in their use and being most of the time connected to the networks affecting their academic performance Culminating with the research, we reach the following conclusion that the continuous and inadequate use of social networks results in low academic performance in the students of the Bachillerato School "Dr. Juan Francisco Ontaneda ", recommending that control be maintained by parents in the time their children give to the use of social networks, to students who perform activities that allow them to obtain more knowledge and that it be a contribution for his academic training. |
