| Achoimre: | According to the World Health Organization "Obesity and overweight are defined as an abnormal or excessive accumulation of fat that can be harmful to health" together with the adoption of sedentary practices children often develop glucose intolerance consecutively their progression results in Diabetes Mellitus type 2 (DM2). The objectives of this research were to analyze preprandial and postprandial glycemia values, to identify risk factors for DM2, and to link up capillary glycemia values to risk factors for DM2 in overweight and obese children in Unidad Educativa Miguel Ángel Suárez. The present study was descriptive-cross-sectional, using a sample of 95 children who acomplished the inclusion criteria and using capillary glycemia samples and a survey the following results were obtained: 88.4% (n = 84) had normal preprandial blood glucose levels and 11.6% (n = 11) were altered, in the postprandial blood samples 95.8% (n = 91) were normal and 4.2% (n = 4) were altered . Related to risk factors; had a medium risk family history with 82,1% (n = 78), alimentation with 81.1% (n = 77) and physical activity with 62.1% (n = 59). Of the 11 altered preprandial capillary blood samples, 9.5% (n = 9) had a mean risk in the family history and 10.5% (n = 10) with physical activity. In the postprandial capillary blood samples, 2.1% (n = 3) had a high risk in family history and a mean risk in physical activity 3.2% (n = 3) and 4.2% (n = 4) in the alimentation.
