Riassunto:A physiological fact that defines the child is the evolution of the body dimensions according to their age and is directly related to nutrition, morbidity, the environment and poverty (2). In this research the objectives were to: determine individual growth trend, identify the main nutritional risk factors based on eating habits, and promote the practice of appropriate complementary feeding. Conducting a study descriptive, analytical, prospective and length. With a universe of 357 children, displays of 80 children in the period June-November 2013. Technique of participant observation and survey; as eating habits survey instruments applied to the caregivers of children (annex 5), child growth standards of who applied to children between 6 months and 2 years of age who come to control of the healthy child at the University Hospital of Motupe (annex 3) addition basic data provided to the caregiver of the child about complementary feeding (annex 7). She is evidenced that in the individual tendency of growth by combination of indicators weight/age and size/age, who presented satisfactory growth in higher percentage was male. Featured nutritional risk factors were: home of complementary feeding before 6 months of age, children who do not feed well; perceptive little power; inadequate consumption of food. Concluding that the unsatisfactory growth women showed a higher percentage and that the early identification of food risk factors can provide a window of opportunity in young children.
