Shrnutí:Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the manufacturing industry have shown constant declines as a contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). By 2017 FDI globally has decreased by 23% and by 35% by 2020, and the manufacturing industry by 18.78% over a 20- year period on average, generating significant effects on economic growth. This research analyzed the impact of FDI and manufacturing industry on the economic growth of Latin American and Caribbean countries in the period 2000-2019. The Generalized Least Squares (GLS) methodology, impulse-response, Westerlund's test (2007) and Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) were implemented to establish the existence of cointegration and elasticity in the long run, also, the Granger-type causality test of Dumitrescu and Hurlin (2012) was implemented. It was evidenced that FDI and manufacturing do generate economic growth for the region in the long run supporting the theory of Romer and Lucas (1988), and Kaldor (1967), however, heterogeneous results were found by sub-regions, and a unidirectional causal relationship for the entire region and bidirectional for the Caribbean. It is recommended that governments be active in analyzing the type of investment and for them to be directed toward non-oil industrial development and the creation of environmentally friendly production technologies for the manufacturing sector
