Summary:The use of medicinal plants with curative purpose has helped man since ancient times, this knowledge is practiced by older people, but nowadays it is no transmitted to young people, so these wisdoms are being lost. That is why, the present work is to inform about the ancestral knowledge of medicinal plants.The aim of this study was to identify the use of medicinal plants in the treatment of cultural affiliation diseases in Vilcabamba Parish in Qhapaq Ñan route. It is a descriptive transversal quantitative and qualitative approach which was carried out in the Qhapaq Ñan community of Loja Canton, Vilcabamba parish. Consequently, the investigated population corresponds to the Traditional Health Agents, who live in the parish. The technique is through interviews with ATS, using a semi-structured guide and direct observations. The most common medicinal plants found in the place are: rue, lemon balm, achira, borage, lemon verbena, mallow, chamomile, mortiño, parsley, san pedrillo, sauce, and the cultural affiliation diseases that they recognize are: air, envy, fright, relapses, fright, nerves, the eye, empacho, among others. Therefore, it is recommended to future researchers to continue investigating about ancestral knowledge, in order not to lose the ancestral culture and its wisdoms.
