Depresión en madres de neonatos hospitalizados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales del Hospital Isidro Ayora de la ciudad de Loja.

A descriptive, observational, prospective and cross-sectional study was performed in 177 mothers of infants hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care from Isidro Ayora Hospital in Loja period January- June 2016, with the objective to determine the depression of mothers of infants by applying the Beck Depression Inventory test and relate this depression with socio-demographic characteristics of the mother like: age, marital status, level of education, place of residence and neonatal hospital stay. Among the results we can highlight a slight disturbance of mood with a 57.60%, an age group of 21 to 25 years of age, married, whose instruction was mostly secondary, place of residence mostly from Loja in which both urban parishes and rural taking note that the longest hospital stay from the neonatal stay including the neonatal intensive care was for 2 weeks. The results showed in this study, allow us to conclude that depression in mothers of hospitalized infants in the area of neonatology from Isidro Ayora Hospital in the city of Loja was a mild mood disturbance followed by intermittent depression.
