Given as a result that the early beginning of breastfeeding help to improve the psychomotor development of the breastfed presenting less abnormal proofs than the ones that didn’t receive an early breastfeeding (12% vs 42%), therefore the ones that didn’t receive an exclusive breastfeeding showed a bigger percentage of abnormal proofs compared to the ones that did receive (53.5% vs 21%), the ones that receive a continuous breastfeeding at age one showed a bigger percentage of normal proofs compared to the ones that didn’t (70% vs 51%). In infant breastfed that received a minimum frequency of meals showed less abnormal proofs, that the ones that didn’t receive (19% vs 25%), Nevertheless not having a broad population, the results obtained in this research, shows that the breastfeeding helps to improve a better psychomotor development as well as feeding practices KEYWORDS: BREASTFEEDING, PSYCHOMOTOR DEVELOPMENT, DENVER`S TEST. |

In infant breastfed that received a minimum frequency of meals showed less abnormal proofs, that the ones that didn’t receive (19% vs 25%), Nevertheless not having a broad population, the results obtained in this research, shows that the breastfeeding helps to improve a better psychomotor development as well as feeding practices KEYWORDS: BREASTFEEDING, PSYCHOMOTOR DEVELOPMENT, DENVER`S TEST.La presente investigación se centró en las prácticas de la alimentación del lactante y el niño pequeño y su influencia en el desarrollo psicomotor en los CNH de Chuquiribamba y Chantaco del MIES-LOJA, año 2014, investigación de tipo transversal correlacional, realizada a niños de edades comprendidas entre 0 a 3 años que asistieron a los CNH, se aplicó encuestas orientadas a las prácticas alimentarias y se evaluó el desarrollo psicomotor utilizando el test de Denver. Dándonos como resultado que el inicio temprano de la lactancia materna ayuda a mejorar el desarrollo psicomotor del lactante presentando menos pruebas anormales de los que no recibieron una lactancia materna temprana (12% vs 42%), así mismo tenemos que los que no recibieron una lactancia materna exclusiva presentaron un porcentaje mayor de pruebas anormales, en comparación con los que si recibieron (53.5% vs 21%), los que recibieron una lactancia materna continua al año de vida presentaron un mayor porcentaje de pruebas normales en comparación con los que no recibieron (70% vs 51%). En niños amamantados que recibieron una frecuencia mínima de comidas presentaron menos pruebas anormales, de los que no la recibieron (19% vs 25%), A pesar de no contar con una población amplia, los resultados obtenidos en la presente investigación, demuestra que la lactancia materna ayuda a presentar un mejor desarrollo psicomotor al igual que las prácticas alimentarias.
