| Sumario: | An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of three levels of calcium in the diet of laying hens of Isa Brown; 90 birds 48 weeks old, separated into 6 groups of 15 chickens each, using a completely randomized design were used. The treatments were: T1: 3%, T2: 1.5%, and T3: 0% calcium carbonate. Percentage of production, shell quality, levels of calcium in blood serum calcium and excreta The following variables were studied. The results show that the percentage of production was statistically higher (P> 0.05) in the two treatment; the quality of the egg shell was better in the one treatment (P> 0.05); blood calcium levels in excreta and showed no statistical difference between three treatments (P> 0.05). We conclude that moderate incorporation of calcium carbonate (limestone with 2 mm dimension) improves the yield of the birds and no adverse or eggs or health of hens effects and its low cost offers economic advantages the producer. |
