Nexo causal entre la desigualdad de ingresos, la tasa de desempleo, la corrupción política, la globalización, y la tasa de homicidios en Ecuador durante 1990 – 2022 utilizando técnicas de series de tiempo.

Özet:Violence is one of the problems that has had the greatest impact on Ecuador's social situation. During the period 2022, the increase in the crime rate has been significant, reaching 25.5 in comparison with previous years, where it did not exceed a threshold of 17 per 100 thousand inhabitants. Because of this, this research has set out to examine the link between the homicide rate, the Gini index, the unemployment rate, political corruption, and globalization during 1990- 2022, using statistical and econometric techniques, in order to propose public policies aimed at reducing violent deaths in the country. Accordingly, the data used in the research were obtained from the World Bank's Development Indicators Database, the World Income Inequality Database, the International Country Risk Guide and the Globalization Index of the Zurich Center for Economic Research. For this purpose, econometric strategies for time series such as cointegration and spectral causality tests are applied using fully modified ordinary least squares estimation methods and non-linear autoregressive distributed lag tests. According to the results, a short- and long-run relationship is established between income inequality and the homicide rate, as well as a causal relationship in a unidirectional sense from unemployment. Therefore, economic policies should be focused on strengthening areas such as formal employment and the implementation of a negative income tax, in order to contribute to a decrease in the incidence of crime in Ecuador.
