Zusammenfassung:This project is focused on determining the importance of including principles for regulating the use of force staff of the National Police of Ecuador, from a doctrinal study of the wide powers entrusted to the police, they can have far-reaching effects on the lives of people and that, if used improperly, can lead to serious human rights violations, to prevent this, the use of force should be guided and regulated within a legal framework, this means that is given to the police, the absolute freedom to use force whatever. Article 163 of the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador and to establish the fundamental mission of the National Police determined that the police "should be prepared and trained to the use of deterrents and conciliation as alternatives to the use of force", but it is not clear under what circumstances the members of the National Police shall be entitled to make use of force, that being the purpose of this research to find the basic principles that provide a balance between avoiding the use of force, and be willing to use force in a lawful and proportionate when strictly necessary.
