Izvleček:As objectives are proposed: determine driving conditions, food and health where canines are kept at the level of urban households in the city of Loja and formulate technical management proposal aimed at ensuring the welfare of the canines in the homes of the city. Fieldwork involves applying 2364 surveys; to get the total surveys applied a simple rule of thumb with reference to 5% of all families in the city of Loja was made. Once he obtained the results proceeded to analyze the information to reach the following conclusions. Whereas surveyed only 5% of all families present in the city found that; canine pet population is 4318, which are distributed in the six parishes as follows: Carigan 24%; Sucre 23%; Punzara 19%; El Sagrario 14%; El Valle 11%; San Sebastián 10%. The race that predominates over the other 62% is mestizo; finding most adult animals with 52.7% aged between 1-5 years. As for the sex we have canines are mostly males, represented by 60.4%. The food is mainly based on home cooking, being 45.2% and the frequency with which provide them food three times a day. 51.6% of the dogs rest in wooden huts are the same as in the courtyard. 63.4% of canines visit the veterinarian at least once a year and make it primarily for deworming. 41.7% of the dogs are bathed every two weeks with anti-flea soap; 84.4% of dogs are vaccinated and 80.8% of the dogs are dewormed.
