| description | Quantitative, descriptive, transversal cut study to measured the effects of Chamomile in the salivary fluid and its PH. For the study, 70 Odontology students of the National University of Loja, the subjets of study were 26 men and 44 women, for the data recolection, the pH measurement and salivary fluid for 5 minutes (after ingesting an aidic drink/coffee and after ingesting chamomile tea) registered in the pertinent files of study. For data analysis the Chi- Square Test System Statistics IBM SPSS version 24 and descriptive statistical test was used. Increased fluid salival after intake of chamomile (0,21ml/min to 0,29ml/min) compared to basal salival fluid is evidenced; in case to salival pH there was a reestablishment in the neutral state (7,0) similar to the basal after to having checked decreased by ingesting coffee where the salival pH was 6,49. Regarding to the pH state after taking coffee, the salival pH descended in a 6,49. In statistical test could show that there is no relationship between the pH (p = 0.605) and fluid salival (p = 0.547) with gender. It is concluded that the consumption of natural chamomile infusion increases fluid salival and maintains the pH in the neutral state. Key Words: INFUSION, SALIVA, SIALOMETRY. |

Key Words: INFUSION, SALIVA, SIALOMETRY.Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, observacional, y de corte transversal; en el cual se midió el efecto que produce la manzanilla sobre el pH y flujo salival según el género y además se comparó los resultados obtenidos al beber la infusión de manzanilla con la ingesta de una bebida ácida (café). Para ello se contó con la colaboración de 70 estudiantes de la Universidad Nacional de Loja de la carrera de Odontología, 26 hombres y 44 mujeres; para la recolección de los datos se realizaron mediciones de pH y flujo salival por 5 minutos (inicial- post-ingesta de bebida ácida/café y post- ingesta de manzanilla); registrados en fichas elaboradas para el efecto. Para el análisis de los datos se usó la Prueba de Chi-Cuadrado del sistema IBM SPSS Statistics versión 24 y la prueba estadística descriptiva. Se evidencia un aumento del flujo salival luego de la ingesta de manzanilla (0,21ml/min a 0,29ml/min), en comparación con el flujo salival basal; en caso del pH salival hubo un restablecimiento a un estado neutro (7,0) similar al basal luego de haberse comprobado una disminución al ingerir café en donde el pH salival fue a 6,49. En la prueba estadística se pudo evidenciar que no existe relación entre el pH (p=0,605) y flujo salival (p=0,547) con el género. Se llegó a la conclusión que el consumo de la infusión de manzanilla natural aumenta el flujo salival y mantiene el pH en estado neutro.
