Riassunto:Knowing that in the Loja province, specifically within cantòn Zapotillo, is to be found the greatest solar radiation in the country of Ecuador according to CONELEC (2008) and Vaca & Ordóñez (2019) atlas, the present investigation focuses in defining the parameters most relevant in order to achieve a photovoltaic energy generation plant that is sustainable, eco-friendly and in accordance with the area´s requirements. To this effect the adequate place is identified, pondering 5 strategic sectors; two comparative designs are performed, one with fixed panels and another with one-axis solar tracker; all necessary materials, equipment and resources are defined; the optimal capacity of the installation is delimited, achieved through the analysis of wholesale prices together with factors such as demand, existing electrical infrastructure and national regulations. Upon making the project`s economic assessment for both models, it is demonstrated that a 300 kWp photovoltaic plant with one-axis solar tracker, located between the towns of Zapotillo and La Ceiba, results in the most attractive configuration, having an annual IRR above 30 % and a 25-year useful life period.
