José Alejandrino Velasco, del barrio Celi Román, Loja. Academic period 2014-2015. The general objective was the implementation of teaching for the development of reading comprehension in seniors strategies, the same that was used to select appropriate strategies to strengthen reading comprehension; and specific objectives was raised to explain the theoretical basis of teaching strategies and reading comprehension; diagnose difficulties encountered in teaching strategies and reading comprehension, design and implement a proposal for strategies to develop reading comprehension among students in the fourth year of basic general education. Assess the effectiveness of the implementation of teaching strategies to develop reading comprehension in the fourth year students of Basic General Education, School of Basic Education Ing. Jose Alejandrino Velasco same methodology used was quasi-experimental design because a model was designed, that was implemented through workshops to improve reading comprehension, all seniors; It was also cross because a cut was made in time for the study of the variables, and was explanatory and field, because the object of study is explained, and the research was conducted at the School of General Education Basic Ing. Jose Alejandrino Velasco where research data was collected. The methods used in the investigation were the analytical method was used for the analysis of relevant and consistent development of reading comprehension strategies; Synthetic and that helped for the synthesis of the theoretical part of the indicators of the variables. The technique used was the survey which was applied by the instrument the questionnaire to a population consisting of a teacher and 32 students, and was used to obtain information on education strategies used in the development of reading comprehension. The result being that most students do not understand the reading because the right strategies were not applied before, during and after reading, for this reason students can not understand the readings and critical judgmental about what they read. It was concluded that the implementation of workshops benefited both students and teachers, reducing the difficulties in reading comprehension, with the use of appropriate teaching and learning in the process teaching strategies.
