Čoahkkáigeassu:This study analyzed the project “Home and community care focused on people with disabilities”, developed in Malacatos parish, Loja canton, during the 2023-2024 period. The objective of this research was to evaluate the perception of the beneficiaries and their families on the improvement in independence and autonomy derived from the interventions in psycho- rehabilitation, education and health, as well as to identify the problems and challenges faced by the project managers and to propose an improvement plan. A mixed research approach was used, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Structured interviews with managers and surveys of users and family members made it possible to collect data on satisfaction with services and beneficiaries' needs. The results indicated that the beneficiaries perceived improvements in their autonomy and quality of life. Before the project, almost half of the beneficiaries were considered totally dependent, while the rest needed occasional help to carry out daily activities. After the project, significant improvements were observed in the independence and autonomy of the beneficiaries. People with hearing and language disabilities showed the highest levels of independence, while people with visual impairment faced the greatest challenges. Interviews with family members revealed that 37% agreed that there had been improvements in independence, 36% agreed that there had been improvements in autonomy and 62% highlighted advances in social inclusion. The research also identified challenges in financial management, logistics and sustainability of the project, highlighting the need to increase financial support and improve infrastructure. An improvement plan was presented to strengthen the project, improve the quality of interventions and promote greater inclusion of people with disabilities in the community.
