| 總結: | Knowledge related to contraception is considered as an important element in preventing pregnancy in particular during adolescence. The aim of this research was to determine the knowledge and practices on the use of contraceptive methods among high school students of the Fernando Suárez Palacios High School for the prevention of teenage pregnancy. It was a descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study. The sample was made up of 75 students to whom a previously validated survey was applied, with 79% being in the age range of 16-19 years, 53% being predominantly male, 92% being unmarried, 85% are of mixed ethnicity and 65% belong to the rural sector. In terms of knowledge, 99% mention to know contraceptive methods, among them stand out the barrier methods with 32%, followed by natural and hormonal methods, while 49% report to have received information from teachers. On the other hand, 51% of adolescents identify that the major utility of the methods is to prevent pregnancy. Regarding sexual practices, 59% reported to have had their first sexual intercourse between the ages of 16 and 19, 58% stated to use some form of contraception, standing out the barrier method and 27% the natural methods. Finally, 59% replied that condoms are the most widely used contraceptive method for the prevention of pregnancy. With the information obtained, an edu-communicational proposal was designed so that young people know the advantages and disadvantages of different contraceptive methods to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases |
