| Περίληψη: | The present work, entitled CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS OF THE STREET OF LAS HERRERÍAS (CUENCA-ECUADOR), THE BASIC THEME FOR AN ILLUSTRATIVE PROPOSAL WITH LOWBROW STYLE, is a research that proposes the study of the theoretical and technical characteristics of the Lowbrow artistic movement; as well as the analysis of the customs and traditions that are part of the cultural heritage of the emblematic street of Las Herrerías, located in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. This investigation aims to make a traditional and digital illustrative artistic production. A wide exploration of the qualitative approach has been carried out to achieve this purpose, based on the collection and analysis of bibliographic and photographic data. This information is based on reliable sources that have been obtained from various digital resources and fieldwork. The historicist, deductive, and inductive methods were applied to extract information related to the historical aspects, influences, technical and referential concepts of Lowbrow Art. In addition to the history, prevailing sites, customs, and traditions related to this street. The methods of iconographic and iconological image analysis were also used to identify the intrinsic significance of the most representative elements of Lowbrow art and the proposed theme. Based on all of the above and applying the experimental method, the processes of artistic pre-production, production, and post-production were developed using a variety of materials, tools, and techniques. Finally, as a result of the research process, a theoretical-practical work duly sustained was obtained, reflected in the artistic production of eight illustrative works: three made with digital techniques and five with traditional competences. These works are focused on examining and exposing the cultural richness of the study's place, emphasizing the tradition of forging, the elaboration of wrappings from corn, religious and civic festivities, as well as the history, monuments and architecture of the area. |
