The present research work aimed to determine the factors associated with self-medication during the COVID-19 pandemic in nursing students of the Faculty of Human Health of the National University of Loja. The study was descriptive-correlational in scope with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design, the population consisted of 125 students who met the inclusion criteria, for data collection the survey was used as a technique and a questionnaire was used as an instrument. Data tabulation was carried out using the SPSS version 26 program. The identified results signal that 48.5% correspond to the female sex, the predominant age range was 20-22 years and 96.8% are single marital status. In relation to self-medication, 54.8% did it preventively and 92% were aware of the risks. The most used medicines were analgesics with 45.2% and 23.28% with alternative medicine, the most persistent symptom was cold or flu with 32.9%, and 96% managed to relieve the symptoms after consuming the medicines. It was established that there is a significant relationship between sociodemographic, economic, and sociocultural factors and self-medication. Es una práctica que entraña riesgos para la salud del consumidor y un problema de salud pública. El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar los factores asociados a la automedicación durante la pandemia por COVID-19 en estudiantes de la carrera de Enfermería de la Facultad de Salud Humana de la Universidad Nacional de Loja. El estudio fue alcance descriptivo-correlacional de diseño no experimental y de corte transversal, la población estuvo conformada por 125 estudiantes, que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión, para la recolección de datos se utilizó como técnica la encuesta y como instrumento un cuestionario. La tabulación de datos se lo realizó mediante el programa SPSS versión 26. Los resultados identificados señalan que 48,5% corresponden al sexo femenino, el rango de edad predominante fue 20-22 años y 96,8% son de estado civil solteros. En relación a la automedicación 54,8% lo realizaron de forma preventiva y el 92% conocían los riesgos. Los medicamentos más utilizados fueron los analgésicos con 45,2% y 23,28% con medicina alternativa, el síntoma más persistente fue por resfriado o gripe con 32,9%, el 96% consiguió aliviar los síntomas después de consumir los medicamentos. Se establecio que, si existe relación significativa entre los factores sociodemográficos, económicos y socioculturales a la automedicaciòn.
