Propuesta de mejoramiento de pastos y forrajes para la producción lechera en el “Rancho san Luis” del barrio chúqueres del cantón Saraguro

The present investigation shows the type of pastures and forages, their classification and the importance of carrying out a technical production process, developing diagnostic techniques and capacity to determine the animal load and carrying capacity per hectare, as well as the combination between grasses, legumes and weeds in a paddock. This is why it has been taken into account as a general objective to contribute to the improvement of pastures and forages for milk production in the "Rancho San Luis" of the Chúqueres neighborhood of the Saraguro in the province of Loja, for which it will be necessary to carry out a Diagnosis of the current situation of pasture and forage management, develop a proposal for improvement in the production of these and socialize them with the owner and workers of the aforementioned place. Regarding the results, it has currently been found that the stocking rate corresponds to 2.20 AU/Ha, being higher than previous years, which was 1.48 AU/Ha. Although it can be seen that the results are positive, there is excessive waste on the part of the owner, due to the fact that the grass is allowed to mature, causing excessive trampling and poor use of green forage, in addition there is low milk production, generating losses at the time of harvest. sell in the local market. For this reason, a proposal for the use of pasture and forage in 10 paddocks of approximately 10,200 square meters with a carrying capacity of 6.15 AU/Ha has been created, this proposal being satisfactorily accepted by the owner to be an example to follow within of the sector, producing good quality products, providing food safety.
