Beskrivelse
Summary:Intentional Reimplantation (IR) is a procedure where the tooth is extracted in an atraumatic way to perform an extraoral endodontic treatment and later reimplanted it in its alveolus. This procedure is considered a conservative technique, for which variable survival rates have been reported, which has been related to the lack of a consensus regarding the protocol to be followed. In this documentary-type study, scientific articles were searched in PubMed, Elsevier, and SpringerLink databases using keywords and following the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Through an intentional sampling technique, a final selection of 29 articles in English was reached, in order to analyze the clinical considerations that each author took into account when applying the IR technique. The results of this study confirmed the variability to which this technique is subject in terms of the steps to follow and the materials and instruments used. It was found that the most influential factors in successful results are the correct diagnosis, atraumatic extraction, extraoral time of fewer than 15 minutes, and tooth splinting. Therefore, when outlining a protocol for treatment, these factors must be prioritized. In addition, aspects such as preoperative disinfection, root hydration during the extraoral phase, apical resection with retrograde obturation, and post-reimplantation evaluation should also be considered. At four years, a cure rate of 92,75% was reported, however more research is still needed to clarify existing doubts regarding the protocol
