Samenvatting:Sexual and reproductive rights are human rights that must be respected and performed in order to provide a dignified life; free from discrimination, limitations, risks and violence, both in 11 the field of sexuality and reproduction. The aim of this research was to establish the knowledge of sexual and reproductive rights possessed by high school students of the "Pio Jaramillo Alvarado" Educational Unit, related to family functionality, to design educational actions on the promotion of a healthy sexual and reproductive process. The research was descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional. A previously validated survey and a FF-SILL family functionality test were applied as instruments. The sample consisted of 230 students who were applied a survey; the results obtained in relation to sociodemographic characteristics show that 63.5% are female, with an age range between 16-18 years, 98.7% are single, 42.2% are in the 2nd year of high school. Regarding knowledge of sexual and reproductive rights, 66.1% were identified as having a high level, while 22.2 and 11,7% have a low and medium level respectively and within the family functionality 46.1 have moderately functional families. Based on the results, an educational proposal was generated in order to contribute to improving knowledge on this subject. Finally, it is concluded that more than half of the population have a high level of knowledge, being a favorable point to reduce unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, in addition, their sexual and reproductive rights will not be violated
