Crynodeb:This thesis refers to: "THE FAMILY FUNCTION AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH SELF-ESTEEM OF CHILDREN OF 4 TO 5 YEARS OF AGE, the initial level II of the Education Unit" GROW "CITY OF QUITO. 2014- 2015 school period" Alternative guidelines. As defined central problem: How family functioning and self-esteem of children of 4-5 years of initial level II of the educational unit "Grow" in Quito related? He was raised as General Objective: To determine family functioning and its relationship with self-esteem of children of 4-5 years of the Initial Level II Educational Unit "grow" in the city of Quito. Semester 2014-2015 The methods used for the preparation of this research work were: Scientific, inductive-deductive, analytic-synthetic, Descriptive; and Statistical Model, the same that served effectively help to achieve the proposed goal. The techniques and instruments used were: an Assessment of the Domestic Relations (FF-SIL) applied to the Parents and / or guardians of children aged 4-5 years old, the Initial Level II Unit educational "grow" in the city of Quito, in order to establish the family functionality from their homes and Self-Esteem Test Lewis R. Aiken applied to children of 4-5 years of the Initial Level II Education Unit "grow" to assess the self-esteem. We conclude that: through Assessment Test Domestic Relations 42% of parents and / or guardians of children scoring at 27-14 points classifying it as a Severely Dysfunctional Family, the 23% a score of 56-43 points classifying it as a moderately functional family, 18% with a score of 70-75 points classifying it as functional family; and 17% with a score of 42-28 points classifying it as a dysfunctional family. Regarding the Self-Esteem Test Lewis R. Aiken, to assess self-esteem, the results determine that 41% are located on the second step of obtaining a category equivalent to low self esteem Unsatisfactory, 27% is in the third step obtaining a category of high self-esteem, equivalent to Satisfactory, 17% is located on the first step to obtain a category of low self esteem, equivalent to Unsatisfactory; and 15% is in the fourth step of obtaining a high self-esteem category, equivalent to very satisfactory.
