Ամփոփում: | The limited knowledge regarding good practices of oral hygiene habits constitutes a problem in a large part of the child population. In the Manu parish, Saraguro canton, Loja province, a high rate of oral pathologies in children under 5 years of age was evidenced, associating it with the lack of knowledge of the parents and their supervision during the child's oral hygiene. This research aims to evaluate the level of knowledge about oral hygiene of parents of children under 5 years of age, to know in which topics there is ignorance; as well as to elaborate a poster for the promotion and motivation, with the purpose of maintaining a good oral health. The methods applied were qualitative, cross-sectional, descriptive, and comparative; with a total population of 236 parents and a sample of 146 parents, 2 validated surveys were carried out, the data were processed in the statistical program SPSS v.28.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) using the criterion of the correct answer, applying the Likert scale (<4 Poor, 5 Acceptable, 6 Good Level, 7 Very Good Level, 8 Excellent). The following results were obtained: prior to the application of the education program there was 100% ignorance, and after it an increase in the level of knowledge was evidenced, with a total average of 96.6% of correct answers. Concluding that the Education program improved the knowledge of the topics shared with the representatives, allowing the transmission of a culture of long-term prevention |
