Evaluación de los parámetros digestivos en pollos broilers alimentados con diferentes niveles de botón de oro (Tithonia diversifolia)

Poultry farming is an important source of income for the livestock sector; however, Raw material costs do not allow for the achievement of good levels of production efficiency. The present research work was oriented to evaluate digestive parameters in 300 Cobb 500 broilers fed for 21 days with different levels of buttercup (Tithonia diversifolia). During this period, three levels of inclusion were applied in the diet of the birds: T1 as control, T2 with a 5% inclusion, and T3 inclusion with a 10% inclusion of buttercup. The variables evaluated were: absolute and relative weight and length of the digestive tract and pH of the gizzard and caecum. The analysis of the information was performed with the statistical program SAS (2016). The results showed no statistical difference (p>0.05) concerning live weight (p=0.0884); with respect to absolute and relative ID weight there was a trend (p= 0.086); (p=0.075). In addition, pH also showed no statistical difference (p>0.05). On the other hand, a trend was found between the absolute weight of the ID (p=0.086) and the absolute length of the IC (p=0.094). In conclusion, it was determined that the inclusion of Tithonia diversifolia did not improve live weight; however, an improvement in intestinal health expressed in a greater length of the small intestine was observed, especially with the inclusion level of 10%.
