description This research work describes the design of an automated system to a coffee roaster which capacity is 25 kg, whose subjects are professional: automatic control and industrial automation, these projects allow to consolidate the given knowledge by teachers. In the first part of this project, there was a detailed literature search with a variety of scientific data related to mechanical and electronic aspects. In addition, taking into account the roasting coffee, there were some variables such as the input variable (temperature), the output variable (Y1_open hopper, Y2_ closed hopper, Y3_open discharge, Y4_closed discharge, motor, solenoid valve of GLP, compressor, spark), bends, and different types of toasts (medium toasting). Consecutively, an investigation was carried out about programmable automaton (PLC S7 1200c DC/DC/DC), functions, advantages and disadvantages. Subsequently, the technical methodology was stablished to analyze and validate the main components of the machine; at the same time, it was used to determine the measurement of the proposed components and the diameter of axes with the use of software MdSolid® 3.5, Autodesk Student AutoCAD®, then, there was the programming of the software TIA® Portal V14 to acquire data of the temperature and time, it is important to emphasize that it will be used to elaborate the bend of toasting. Furthermore, twenty practices were elaborated with the purpose of indicating each one of the bends with their own toasting profile. Finally, the bend of the roasted coffee was contemplated with a greater precision, taking into consideration the type of the needed roasted by the owner of the machine; also, the roasting process was automated and validated whose results were a uniform roasting and a greater effectiveness. KEYWORDS: PLC S7-1200, Panel HMI, TIA PORTAL, Coffe roaster.El presente trabajo investigativo describe el diseño de un sistema automatizado para una tostadora de café con capacidad de 25 kg, para las asignaturas de tipo profesionalizante: control automático y automatización industrial, donde estos proyectos permiten consolidar los conocimientos impartidos por los docentes. En la primera parte de este proyecto se realizó una minuciosa búsqueda bibliográfica en diversas bases de datos científicos, relacionados o afines sobre aspectos mecánicos y eléctricos. Así mismo, acerca los temas del tostado de café, variables a considerar, curvas y tipos de tostado. Consecutivamente se ejecutó una investigación sobre autómatas programables, funciones, ventajas y desventajas. Posteriormente se estableció la metodología técnica para un análisis y validación de los principales componentes de la máquina, determinación de las medidas de los componentes propuestos y del diámetro de los ejes con el uso del software MdSolid® 3.5, Autodesk Student AutoCAD®, luego la programación en el software TIA® Portal V14, para la adquisición de datos de temperatura y tiempo, la misma que será utilizada para la elaboración de la curva de tostado, además se elaboró un total de veinte prácticas donde se indica cada curva con su propio perfil de tostado. Finalmente, se considera la curva de tostado de café con mayor precisión y al tipo de tostado requerido por el propietario de la máquina en estudio, automatizando el proceso con su validación en la máquina respectiva, encontrando resultados de un tostado uniforme del café y con mayor eficiencia.
