Estudio de la festividad Kapak Raymi, como aporte al turismo cultural del cantón Saraguro

Saraguro is one of the 16 cantons of the Loja province, it’s known as magic town because of its traditions and costumes. The following general objective was established to accomplish the research: To carry out the study of the Kapak Raymi festival as a contribution to cultural tourism in the Saraguro canton, and two specific objectives which are: To identify the characteristics of the characters involved in the Kapak Raymi festivity as a contribution to the cultural tourism of the Saraguro canton" and “To propose strategies for the enhancement of the characteristics of the characters involved in the Kapak Raymi festival as a contribution to the cultural tourism of the Saraguro canton". For their development, bibliographic reviews were used to find out the number of characters in the festival, and hybrid records were created to obtain the main characteristics of each character. Furthermore, the study utilized historical, logical, descriptive, and deductive methods, along with techniques such as direct observation, interviews, and perception surveys. A SWOT analysis was conducted to assess the current situation of the canton. Based on this information, a strategic SWOT was developed to identify strategies that would contribute to the research. For the second objective, a participative approach was used through a Focus Group with key stakeholders to determine fundamental strategies for enhancing the value of the characteristics of the notable figures in the canton. A total of 13 festival characters were identified. Additionally, there was a 22% interest from tourists in the character “Wiki,” concluding that the wiki character's clothing has bright colors.
