description Diabetes Mellitus type 2 is important at a public health level due to the severity and diversity of its chronic complications, therefore it is essential that adults aged 18 to 65 years or more engage in at least moderate and vigorous physical activity, or a combination of both, in order to reduce the risk of suffering from it by 30-40%. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze physical activity and the risk of Diabetes Mellitus type 2 in patients who come to the outpatient clinic of the University Health Center of Motupe - Loja; carrying out a correlational, quantitative, descriptive study with a health promotion approach for which we studied young adult and older adult patients, between the ages of 18 and 65 years, 75 in total, to whom the Findrisk scale and the international questionnaire of physical activity were applied. Among the results, the physical activity performed by the patients was categorized, with category 2 (moderate) with 44% being the most performed; it was shown that the risk of presenting Diabetes mellitus type 2 is slightly elevated with this amount of physical activity. It was found that there is no direct statistical relationship between these variables, since despite the protective physical exercise performed, a certain group continues to present risk, and it is essential to study additional factors that maintain the persistent risk of the disease
