The Ecuadorian educational system uses the Kolb method in the teaching-learning process, which establishes four phases (experience, reflection, conceptualization, application), allowing the teacher to establish a work plan with playful, creative and dynamic activities aimed at providing students with significant knowledge. The methodological approach used in this study is quantitative-qualitative and its design is non-experimental, in which 38 students and 2 teachers of seventh grade participated. The research methods applied were scientific, analytical, descriptive, descriptive, statistical, as well as techniques such as the interview applied to the teachers and the instruments used were a questionnaire addressed to the students. The results obtained show that the most frequent errors in reading and writing presented by seventh grade students are: rapid reading, not understanding and comprehending a text, not respecting punctuation marks, spelling errors in the use of h, j, g, acute, grave and esdrújulas words. Therefore, it is concluded that the application of the didactic guide based on Kolb's method through experimentation, reflection, conceptualization and application in the teaching process helps to correct the errors in both reading and writing presented by the seventh grade students. Key words: Kolb's method, literacy, teaching-learning, recreational activities El objetivo general del presente trabajo investigativo fue determinar la eficacia del método de Kolb mediante una propuesta didáctica para el desarrollo de la lectoescritura en los estudiantes de séptimo grado de la escuela de educación básica “Luis Alfredo Samaniego Arteaga”. El sistema educativo ecuatoriano utiliza el método Kolb en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, el cual establece cuatro fases (experiencia, reflexión, conceptualización, aplicación), permitiendo al docente establecer un plan de trabajo con actividades lúdicas, creativas y dinámicas, encaminadas a brindar a los estudiantes conocimientos significativos. El enfoque metodológico utilizado en este estudio es Mixto y su diseño es no experimental. En el cual, participaron 38 estudiantes y 2 docentes de séptimo grado. Los métodos de investigación aplicados fueron, científico, analítico, descriptivo, estadístico. Asimismo, se aplicó técnicas como la entrevista a los docentes y el instrumento utilizado fue un cuestionario dirigido a los estudiantes. Dentro de los resultados obtenidos se manifiesta que los errores más frecuentes en la lectoescritura que presentan los alumnos se séptimo año son: lectura rápida, no entienden ni comprenden un texto, no respetan los signos de puntación, errores ortográficos en el uso de la h, j, g, palabras agudas, graves y esdrújulas. Por consiguiente, se llega a la conclusión que, mediante la aplicación de la guía didáctica basada en el método de Kolb y la experimentación, reflexión conceptualización y la aplicación en el proceso de enseñanza se ayudó a corregir los errores tanto en la lectura como en la escritura que presentaban los estudiantes de séptimo grado.
