| Shrnutí: | Azolla filiculoides has a symbiotic relationship with a type of cyanobacteria called Anabaena azollae, capable of fixing atmospheric nitrogen in an assimilable form for the plant, making it an important source of nitrogen, helping family farming, it is a valuable biofertilizer for crop production. In the research conducted in the parish of San Pedro de la Bendita, Canton Catamayo, the effect of well expressed nitrogen (Nbe) obtained through the Azolla-Anabaena symbiosis in the cultivation of corn (Zea mays L.) was evaluated. A randomized block experimental design with three replications and five treatments was used: control, conventional fertilization (Urea), NitrAgua-Foliar, NitrAgua-Irrigation and azolla biomass; data of agronomic variables of the corn crop were recorded every 15 days. With the application of Azolla filiculoides biomass, the best results were obtained with plant height of 162.4 cm, stalk diameter of 4.5 cm, 15 leaves per plant, 22.2 and 6.8 cm for ear length and ear diameter, respectively; 598 grains per ear and 276.7 g for ear weight. Azolla filiculoides constitutes a viable and economical alternative as a biofertilizer in the cultivation of Zea mays. |
