| Summary: | The present investigation was carried out in the Southern Region of Ecuador (RSE), in the province of Loja, in two microwatersheds: El Carmen 1 and Mónica, considered as priorities for the conservation of water resources in the city of Loja. Taking into account that, Carmen 1 is a preserved microbasin, while Monica has a higher degree of intervention. The main objective of this research is to analyze the production of suspended sediments that is generated in the study areas, where a continuous sampling point of solid and liquid gauges was established for the calculation of the flow and concentration of suspended solids (Css), At the same time, data was downloaded from rainfall and hydrological stations to determine the average precipitation of each micro-basin. To calculate the flow rate, the chemical tracer method (salt) was used, obtaining an average of 397.66 l / s for the Mónica micro-basin and 464.90 l / s for El Carmen 1, while for the suspended solids followed the methodology of Severiche, Castillo and Acevedo (2013) where average values of 78.75 and 118.55 ton / km2 were obtained for the microbasin of Mónica and El Carmen 1 respectively, which indicates that the microbasins are in a good state of conservation. Regarding the relationship between the Css and flow variables of each of the micro-basins, these have a strong linear relationship, with the determination factor for El Carmen 1 being R2 = 0.93 and R2 = 0.97 for Mónica. By means of these results, it was possible to demonstrate that the microbasin of Mónica has greater drag of sediments since it presents a greater degree of anthropic intervention and the composition of its soils. Precipitation influences the dragging of suspended solids in the two microwatersheds, but there is a greater correspondence of precipitation and sediment carryover in the Mónica microbasin. Therefore, the microbasin of Mónica is the one that is mostly degraded due to the degree of anthropic intervention, the vegetal cover, type of soil and priority of use in comparison with the micro-basin of El Carmen 1 Key words: microbasin, suspended solids, caudal, priority, sediment carryover. |
