Hyponatremia is defined as the plasma sodium concentration less than 135 mEq / L. It can occur in older adults due to its many conditions such as an increase in the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, especially hypertension and polypharmacy, especially diuretics, these drugs act by increasing the excretion of sodium, chloride and water by inhibiting sodium ion transport through the renal tubular epithelium. It is common for older adults to limit their salt intake, because the major part of them because most are hypertensive or have some degree of renal damage, but it is important to mention that, there is no such strict care as to the amount of water taken. The main objective of the research was to determine the relationship of hyponatremia and diuretics in hypertensive elderly nursing home "Daniel Alvarez Sanchez" and Day Center "San Jose".
