Zusammenfassung:In the "Buenos Aires" farm of the San Antonio de Cumbe parish, Saraguro canton, Loja province, a sprinkler irrigation system was designed in 0.5 ha for the cultivation of potato (Solanum tuberosum) and 0.5 ha in grass cultivation (Cynodon dactylon); with the aim of contributing to the efficient use of irrigation water and soil through the design of a pressurized irrigation system; The determination of the hydrophysical variables of the soil was carried out, with the help of Koppecky cylinders of 100 cm3, undisturbed samples were taken, and samples altered at 40 cm depth. In the agronomic design, the irrigation needs of the two crops were determined; For ETo, the Hargreaves method was used as an alternative when information is lacking. The method uses only temperature and solar radiation data from the Saraguro meteorological station; From the data obtained by FAO (2006), the Kc curves were plotted to calculate the evapotranspiration of the crop. Based on the results of the analysis of the physical properties of the soil, the irrigation sheet for the potato crop was determined at 27.32 mm and for the grass 28.68 mm, values that can be considered equal; therefore, an irrigation frequency of seven days was established; and, the irrigation time of 6 hours for the two crops. For the hydraulic design, the main, secondary and lateral hydraulic networks were established, with nominal diameters of 3”, 3” and 1 ½”, respectively, using the Hazen-Williams formula; Likewise, the Christiansen coefficient was calculated for pipes with multi-outlets.The water for irrigation is collected from the Chariguiña creek, with a hardness of 1.77〖mgCaCO〗_3/L, classified as soft, salinity of 0.017 dS/m, pH of 7.39, alkalinity of 25 mg/L, sodium absorption ratio (SAR) of 0.52, residual sodium carbonate (CSR) of <1.25 meq/L and a total solids value of 53 mg/L. Given that the parameters that define the quality of the water for irrigation are among the acceptable ranges, it is concluded that the farm water has optimal conditions to favor the growth of the crops, without causing damage to the soil, as well as guaranteeing the correct operation of the irrigation system. The installation of 1.00 ha of sprinkler irrigation has a cost of $_3_705,14; investment expected to be recovered in six months.
