| description | Andean forests play an important role, their conservation allows to ensure the well-being of people who depend directly and indirectly on their ecosystem goods and services. In this context, this research aims to contribute to scientific knowledge about the effects of deforestation and forest fires on the potential distribution of forest species of conditioned use of the Ecuadorian Andean Forest. The selected species are: Junglans neotropica Diels, Myrsine coriacea R. Br. ex Roem. & Schult, Myrcianthes discolor (Kunth) McVaugh, Hieronyma macrocarpa Müll. Arg, Podocarpus oleifolius D. Don, Styloceras laurifolium (Willd.) Kunth, and Weinmannia fagaroides Kunth. To determine the potential distribution, the points of presence from GBIF and the BNDB and climatic variables from WorldClim were downloaded. Subsequently, the presence points were filtered, then calibration areas and variable selection were generated. After that the generation, selection and assembly of the best models was carried out; The entire modelling process developed in RStudio. In order to evaluate the areas of potential distribution affected by deforestation and forest fires, information on vegetation cover was obtained from MAATE and forest fires from NASA. The native forests of the vegetal cover were extracted to determine the deforestation and to make an intersection with the adequacy areas. Then, by intersection, the active fires in the suitability areas of each species were determined. Finally, it was found that Myrsine coriacea presented the largest suitability area with 2,350,698 ha, followed by Podocarpus oleifolius with 2,038,291 ha. The species most affected by deforestation were Myrcianthes discolor with 12.79% followed by Hieronyma macrocarpa with 11.73%. Regarding active fires, the species Myrcianthes discolor is the most affected, presenting a density of 0.0197 FA/km2 (398 FA), followed by Weinmmannia fagaroides with 0.0152 FA/km2 (360 FA). Keywords: Potential distribution, modelling, conditional use, Andean Forest, deforestation, forest fires. |
