Tighter control, to ensure the appropriate use of antimicrobials is necessary and to prevent the emergence and spread of bacterial resistance. Therefore the purpose of this research was to determine the MIC of ceftriaxone against E. coli in urine cultures outpatient Brigade Military Hospital No. 7 in the city of Loja. A descriptive cross-sectional study applies 106 urine cultures were processed of which 50 were positive for further growth had 100 000 CFU / ml, and of these 34 strains they were positive for E. coli spp (68%); Klebsiella pneumoniae (12%); Pseudomonas aeruginosa (8%); Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella oxytoca. All strains were isolated and identified and processed according to established protocols with (4%). All strains were isolated and identified and processed according to established protocols. Susceptibility testing was performed by the macrodilution method in triplicate; for each positive and negative control sample was used; reference of this study, a control strain and ATCC.25922 determining the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) was used. The sensitivity demonstrated that E. coli front ceftriaxone was 62% (≤1 ug /ml) sensitive, 9% (=2 ug /ml) intermediate and 29% (≥4 ug /ml) resistant, with reference to the 2015 CLSI. Es necesario el más estricto control, que garantice el uso apropiado de los antimicrobianos y que impida la aparición y diseminación de la resistencia bacteriana. Por ello, el propósito de esta investigación fue determinar la concentración mínima inhibitoria (CMI) de ceftriaxone frente a E. coli spp en urocultivos de pacientes de consulta externa del Hospital Militar Brigada Nro.7 de la ciudad de Loja .Se aplicó un estudio descriptivo y de corte transversal. Se procesaron 106 urocultivos de los cuales 50 resultaron positivos pues tuvieron un crecimiento mayor a 100 000 UFC/ml, y de estos 34 cepas fueron positivas para E coli spp (68%); Klebsiella pneumoniae (12% ); Pseudomona aeruginosa (8%); Proteus mirabilis , Proteus vulgaris ,klebsiella oxytoca con un (4%). Todas las cepas fueron aisladas e identificadas y procesadas según los protocolos ya establecidos .Se realizó las pruebas de susceptibilidad por el método de macrodilución, por triplicado; para cada muestra se utilizó control positivo y negativo; como referencia de este estudio se utilizó una cepa control ATCC.25922 y la determinación de la concentración mínima bactericida (CMB). La sensibilidad que demostró E. coli spp frente a ceftriaxone fue de 62 % (≤1 ug /ml) sensible; 9% (=2 ug /ml) intermedio y 29% (≥4 ug /ml) resistente, tomando como referencia de la CLSI del 2015.
