PROPUESTA DE UN CENTRO DE INTERPRETACIÓN AMBIENTAL PARA LA “RESERVA ECOLÓGICA MILITAR ARENILLAS”

Military Arenillas Ecological Reserve is located in the province of El Oro, in southwestern Ecuador. Politically it is among the cantons Arenillas and Huaquillas. Contains remnants of tropical dry forest, tropical thorn scrub and very dry tropical forest, ecosystems endangered great diversity of flora and fauna, ie, dry ecosystems of the Tumbes region, not shown in any of the other areas National heritage Areas, and furthermore, are distinctive for their high endemism. The relevance of the Ecological Reserve lies, in which more than providing goods and services to populations that have direct impact on it, a refuge of endemic birds of the Tumbes region, as some bird species present here are considered unique dry forests of Ecuador and Peru. This proposal is based on the creation of the Environmental Interpretation Center for Military Arenillas Ecological Reserve, because there is no center to provide all the basic information you need for people visiting, because in this place there scenic beauty as well as the flora, fauna, fish resources, maintaining traditional policies of use, management and conservation of natural resources. In the methodological framework of the proposed Environmental Interpretation Center for Military Arenillas Ecological Reserve, a scientific critical reading for the construction of theoretical and conceptual framework it was made. For the approach of the objectives was the place under the necessity of creating an environmental interpretation center to this general objective it was determined: Design a proposed Environmental Interpretation Center to provide visitors with environmental and tourist information in the ecological reserve military grit, and three specific objectives are: Perform Diagnostics military Arenillas ecological Reserve, to determine current situation in the area; Preparing the proposed infrastructure, interpretive themes and budget for environmental research center; Identify potential significant environmental impacts that may occur in the project. For all targets different methodologies and appropriate techniques are employed. With these references it is reached the following conclusions: Geographically Military Arenillas Ecological Reserve has an area of 17,082 hectares, has Military Administrative staff and rangers of the Environment Ministry responsible for the maintenance and conservation of the reserve, there is one the most important remnants of xeric vegetation of the Ecuadorian coast, in the design of the infrastructure for the interpretive center will consist of the following areas: reception and souvenir, audiovisual room, reading room and toilets, in the environmental study shows that all the actions that have been taken into account in project implementation caused a negative impact of interest where you can mention were identified; Quebrada Salinas, Ecological Reserve and Dry Forest Tropical them that are within the hierarchy I and II. Finally the decentralized Autonomous Government of the Canton Arenillas, as well as the administrative staff of the Reserve to consider deductions of this project for future planning in relation to sustainable tourism development is recommended, it is also recommended to work together with the Administrative Staff Book management and implementation of the interpretation center tourist proposal in this paper, emphasizing tourism development projects specifically in lifting permanent information of the tourism potential of the reserve, to develop projects focused on environmental ecological conservation of the reserve and develop focused projects environmental awareness of booking catering for tourists in order to decrease the rate of degradation.
