description Bovine tuberculosis (TBB) is caused by Mycobacterium bovis; It is a zoonotic disease that affects mainly cattle and to a lesser extent human, so health entities seek control and eradication of the disease by improving routine diagnostic tests, in- creasing molecular and immunoenzymatic tests. The objective of this work was to use immunological techniques for the diagnosis of TBB on farms in the province of Loja in the cantons of Catamayo, Espíndola and Gonzanamá. The population was made up of 46 cattle from five farms in the aforementioned cantons that participated voluntarily (non-probabilistic sampling). The animals included in the study were females and males aged over six months, females that were not in pregnancy and animals in general that had not been sensitized with tuberculin for at least sixty days before the test. The study began with Simple cervical tuberculinization (SITT) using a purified bovine protein derivative (PPDb), administered intradermally in the neck table. Whole blood samples would subsequently be obtained from positive reactors for diagnostic confirmation by γ- IFN. The results obtained in the SITT were 2 animals with indurations greater than 4 mm. The γ-IFN test results were negative in both cases. The differences could be due to the low sensitivity of SITT or to cross- reactions to related non-pathogenic agents for cattle, which generates an increase in false positives as the disease control and eradication programs advance. Key words: Bovine tuberculosis; Tuberculin; γ-IFN; Loja
