Shrnutí:These days, the aim is to change the emphasis from teaching-centered pedagogy to a pedagogy focused on learning, thus, students adopt a more active position in their autonomous learning processes by learning how to learn by their own. Therefore, the objective of this research is to explore and learn about the experiences of students and teachers who connect through the virtual modality, in terms of the dialogue established between students and teachers, their ways of learning and teaching, as well as their needs for support in this educational modality. The fieldwork was carried out through the methodology based on the application of a semi-structured survey to both teachers and students of the Santa Juana de Arco "La Salle" school during the academy period of 2020 -2021, located in Cariamanga city. The main findings of this study showed that exists a considerable delay or deterioration in the learning of students, especially the younger ones, due to the difficulty to adapt to the virtual study modality, and the need to be accompanied by an adult to supervise them, as well as the lack of technological resources at home for each of the members who have online classes. Additionally, the poor internet connection is another drawback. Whilst the conclusions obtained from this research demonstrated that the role of the teacher is fundamental for student achievement, as well as the motivation and monitoring that the teacher performs. On the other hand, results showed that communication among peers plays a very important role in learning, as it allows them to exchange opinions, live together and learn from the experiences of others. All these very important factors were interrupted by the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced many to communicate through a screen and in some cases to lose that coexistence between teacher-student and student-student affecting teaching and learning.
