الملخص:The family is considered a fundamental pillar for a good emotional and social development of children, maintaining a good environment will generate in them, security and the most important will allow them to acquire necessary skills for a better coping in the adult life of adolescents, even more for those who are considered more vulnerable, considering that they need to be directed in the healthiest way, otherwise all this can generate some kind of stagnation or mental health problems such as depression. With this background, the present investigation answered the following question: How are the dimensions of the Social Family environment related to the presence of depression in adolescents; the methodology used was through a non-experimental, cross-sectional, quantitative approach and descriptive correlational design; with a sample of 78 adolescents between 14 and 18 years of age. The instruments used were the Moss Family envirnment Scale and the Beck Depression Inventory. The results showed that in the family social environment: the relationship dimension and the growth dimension prevailed at a medium level, while the system maintenance dimension had a higher prevalence at a high level. In the levels of depression, the most prevalent was the minimum level. For the relationship between the two variables, the cross table and the Rho Spearman correlation coefficient were applied, and it was analyzed that there was no statistically significant correlation. Subsequently, a mental health intervention proposal was designed for adolescents and families, with the purpose of preventing or reducing depressive symptomatology considering family interrelationships as the main protective and influential factor, consisting of three phases: individual level, family level and collective level, giving a total of 9 sessions in total
