Description
Summary:Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), is a urinary tract morphological or functional disturbance produced by pathogenic bacteria, which is quiet frequent in pregnant women because of the physiological changes shown in that phase. The porpoise of this research was to set and match bacterial agents and the relation with urinary tract risk factors in pregnant women and identify the period of gestation in which is more frequent this affliction. Another porpoise is to share the results with the patients that went to Centro de Salud Nº 1. 150 samples from pregnant women, with inclusion criteria, were used. These samples passed through elemental and microscopic urinalysis and urine culture and reaching the following results: 53 positive cases where the main causative agent is Escherichia coli (77%), Proteus mirabilis (13%) and Klebsiella pneumonia (9%). Among the trigger risk factors of the UTI development was founded: sexual activity, voluntary urinary retention, recurrent UTI, inadequate vaginal hygiene, low liquid intake (25cc or lower), the use of intimate vaginal hygiene soaps. 42% of pregnant women showed UTI in the first three months; 28% showed UTI in the second trimester, concluding that the most frequent bacterial agent was Escherichia coli as a product of having intercourse more than five times a month. The UTI were more evident on the first trimester of gestation. Keywords: Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), bacterial agents, risk factors, pregnancy.
