| Résumé: | Economic growth is a serious problem that is reflected in the economies of Latin America. In 2020, the regional GDP decreased about 8% due to the spread of the confinement of nations, the decrease of exports, and the collapse of economic activities. Therefore, the present research aims to analyze entrepreneurship in Latin America and its impact on economic growth in the region during the period 1999-2020. Data from the World Bank, Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, KOF Index of Globalisation and the Atlas method were used to prepare the research. The dependent variable used was GDP per capita, the independent variable was the Entrepreneurial Activity Rate, and the control variables were innovation and globalization. For the panel data model, it was used the GLS model with the Hausman test, the Pedroni and Westerlund cointegration tests, and the Dumitrescu and Hurlin causality test based on the Granger causality test. The results show the existence of a positive relationship between the entrepreneurship variable and economic growth, as well as a positive relationship between the control variables and economic growth and confirm the existence of a long-term equilibrium relationship. Based on these results, it is suggested to develop policies to support entrepreneurship and innovation, in order to optimize the economic and social environment, the support of the state and private enterprise is transcendental, since this will generate economic growth in Latin American countries. |
