सारांश:Education is the main basis in each of the stages of life for the development of people and societies, in which the great technological advances represent an important part. Currently, children consider the use of electronic devices essential for their daily lives. In the present investigation and field work, the relationship of video games and the internet, and its influence on the academic performance and health of the seventh year students of "Bernardo Valdivieso" school were determined; for which, through the survey designed by the author, the use and frequency of electronic devices, academic performance and possible health effects due to excessive use were determined. The majority of students make use of electronic devices with a frequency of between one to two hours per day, being the most widely used devices cell phones and computers, mainly used to surf the Internet or play video games. Regarding academic performance, the majority of students obtain scores between 7 to 8.99 points, corresponding to achieving the required learning goals. In addition, according to the appreciation of the students, it was showed a relationship between the use of electronic devices and academic performance. Among the related health problems, they referred cervicalgia 43.33%, tendinitis 47.78%, red eye syndrome 35.56% and difficulty falling asleep 36.67%. At the end of the study, it was concluded that the majority of students use electronic devices daily, and that, although no association has been determined statistically, it does not mean that this problem is not on the rise, with new characteristics that come very quickly.
